OBERACKER TO SEEK SENATE SEAT

Schenevus, NY – Business owner and Otsego County Legislator, Peter Oberacker, announced his intent to seek the nomination for the 51st Senate District.  The seat is currently held by Senator James Seward who will be retiring at the end of the year.

Over his life and career Peter has become a successful business builder, community leader, and family man.

Growing up working in the family’s local meat market since age 8, he established a long career in product research, development, and implementation in the food industry business.  In 2007, he created Form Tech Solutions and built it into a successful multi-million dollar business working with major companies around the world to develop and incorporate new and innovative products and then make them better, safer, and healthier in the ever-growing food industry.

In 2017, Peter bucked New York’s disturbing outmigration trends and moved his company’s international headquarters from Texas to his hometown of Schenevus, NY where it is thriving today despite the state’s poor business environment.

In 2015, Peter was elected to the Otsego County Board of Representatives and quickly showed his effectiveness delivering for his constituents and becoming a respected leader across the county.

Prior to his election to the County Board, Peter served as Maryland Town Supervisor and as a town board member.

“Community service and giving back has always been a priority to me.  Serving as Senator in the 51st District feels like a natural step and one that I am excited and ready to take on,” Oberacker said.

“I believe that my experience in business and public service allows me to continue great work of our Senator Jim Seward. I will be ready to serve on day 1,” Oberacker continued.

A dedicated community member, Peter is a member of his local Fire Department and EMS squad and is a member of the Masonic Lodge. Peter is a graduate of Schenvus High School and SUNY Delhi. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Shannon, of 34 years.  They have two adult children.

Oberacker has actively begun the process of seeking the nomination to be the candidate in the November election.

“I look forward to meeting the people of this district and earning the nomination and going on to work hard to earn the votes and confidence of all the residents of the district,” Oberacker concluded.
